Calls for submissions: PRINTMAKERS

07.05.2012 Transit News

TRANSIT needs you! We’re currently accepting submissions for our third exhibition, Building Blocks: TRANSIT’s Print Community, a print invitational that will run from October 1–27 in conjunction with Chicago Artists Month 2012.

While we’d love if you can find time to create something for us — and we are always especially happy to receive travel- or transit-related work — any prints that you think would help our efforts would be appreciated. One-of-a-kind prints are welcome and multiples are encouraged (we did well selling multiple prints last year, and will return unsold items to you at the end of the exhibition, if requested — *shipping fees may apply). As in the past, participants will receive 50% of the proceeds from their sales unless they choose to donate more (TRANSIT is again splitting our share of the proceeds with I Am Logan Square, after a percentage goes to our fiscal sponsor).

The theme for Chicago Artists Month 2012 is “Art Block by Block,” and TRANSIT is in the middle of the Logan Square excitement.

You can help us keep TRANSIT’s expansive network growing by joining us! Last year, we were thrilled to have more than doubled our earned revenue from the exhibition, and went from selling a few pieces our first year to selling more than sixty works during October 2011. We were also pleased to have some terrific media coverage, including having our artists’ work on the cover of the Chicago Tribune’s Arts & Entertainment section. We hope for more great press – due to exciting work by contributors like you!

We need your commitment ASAP. July 31st is the deadline for saying YES. EXTENDED DEADLINE! You still can submit your prints to our show. Fill out a form (download PDF below) and get it back to us — preferably with images — ASAP. Artwork is due to us by September 14, 5pm. There are no fees to participate. Please send any questions and your confirmation of participation to: Meredith Winer. We’ll send you the submission guidelines and form via email, or you can download the PDF at the bottom of this post. We’re looking forward to a great show!

Entrants who submit high quality JPGs of their work early will receive first consideration to be part of participant imagery in our PR efforts (images must be of work being submitted for our exhibition; signed forms must be received by TRANSIT prior to inclusion), including the show postcards, posters, press release images, etc. Please let us know immediately if you have images to share!

Sincerely,
Meredith R Winer, founder/director
